The strategic goal of the Department of Language Training is to develop students' intercultural communicative competence in line with standards of the Language Policy Unit of the Council of Europe through extended use of innovative educational technologies which create opportunities for applying a competence model and a multilevel approach to mastering a foreign language.
The main priority is to develop professional foreign-language competence to use both in professional and social lives of university graduates as well as to increase graduates' competitiveness on the domestic and global labor markets.
The mission of the Department of Language Training is to be a leading center for training highly skilled specialists in the financial and economic field, equipped with knowledge of one or two foreign languages; possessing values, views, standpoints and attitudes that reflect general concepts of the Russian culture to meet challenges of modern society in conditions of increasingly competitive labor market.
The Center for Innovative Language Strategies (CILS) is an integral part of the Department.
The Department was established July 1, 2016 as a result of a merger of the following five Chairs:
