As we look ahead to exams in May/June, we are offering you the opportunity to attend a workshop titled ‘Develop your Academic Skills with LSE LIFE: What makes a good exam essay’ that will be run by Dr Sarah Taylor.

Building on the study skills materials on your EMFSS Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) page, we will learn:

- what makes a good exam essay;

- the key components of a good exam essay;

- some skills that will help you to perform well in your exams;

- the features of a good exam essay;

- how to analyze the essay question, write critically and construct arguments, and use sources and references appropriately in your essays.

Workshop 1: Thursday 10 February, 10-11 am UK time. Register here https://bit.ly/34nsq1G

Workshop 2: Thursday 17 February, 2-3 pm UK time. Register here https://bit.ly/3Gd5y2d

You may only register for one workshop so please ensure you have chosen the workshop which works best for you. The registration link will go live on Thursday 3 February at 1 pm UK time.

For those students unable to attend live, we will share a recording of the workshop for all to access at their leisure.

Students who register successfully will be asked to work through LSE LIFE’s Preparing to Write at Degree Level content and watch this video on Academic Integrity_blank on the EMFSS Welcome course in advance of the workshop.

And as the best part of our workshop, we are also offering the chance to attend an individual 30-minute session with an LSE LIFE study adviser on a first come first served basis during the week following the workshop. These are informal conversations on a one-to-one basis to discuss study skills development.

We look forward to sharing this opportunity with you.

Best wishes,

LU.FA Team
